General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team at MedStar Health Georgetown University Hospital.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform direct patient care technologies and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide patient care to an assigned group of patients according to an established plan of care, under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse. All functions are performed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and MedStar Georgetown’s policies and standards.

Primary Duties:

1. Implement patients' care plans as directed by the RN, report findings, and suggest revisions as appropriate.
2. Provide direct bedside care, including activities of daily living, bathing, skin care, toileting, mouth care, feeding, range of motion exercises, assisting with mobility, and transporting patients.
3. Perform routine treatments such as tube feedings, ostomy care, Foley catheter care, IV care, venipuncture, EKG, wound care, drainage tube maintenance, point of care testing, oxygen equipment care, and assistance with traction, casts, and splints.
4. Participate in patient/family teaching and document information accurately.
5. Maintain a safe environment, participate in quality improvement, and assist with supply management and unit operations.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Program (CNA) preferred
• Vocational/Technical Diploma in EMT or Medical Assistant considered
• 1-2 years' experience as a CNA or related healthcare experience preferred

Additional Information:

This position offers a hiring range of $24.94 per hour.
