Purpose and Scope

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in compliance with policies, procedures, training, and regulations. Responsible for setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting quality improvement activities.

Duties / Activities

Customer Service

• Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards.
• Provide outstanding service to all customers.
• Develop effective relationships through communication.
• Respond promptly to customer issues.

Patient Care

• Assist in patient education and welcome patients, reporting concerns.
• Evaluate vascular access, obtain vital signs, and report findings.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties.
• Administer Heparin as delegated.
• Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis treatments per orders.
• Record treatment data accurately and timely.
• Monitor patient responses and intervene as needed.
• Perform post-treatment assessments and documentation.

Maintenance / Technical

• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Prepare and disinfect equipment.
• Perform safety checks and alarm testing.
• Manage supplies efficiently.

Clerical & Administrative

• Participate in CQI activities.
• Document treatment data accurately.
• Prepare and review patient charts and lab specimens.

Other Duties

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional for Home Program Technicians

• Assist with home visits, patient education, scheduling, and supply management.
• Support with home hemo setup, water sampling, and patient assistance.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Includes lifting, standing, bending, and exposure to infectious materials. Travel between facilities and community locations is required. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for disabilities.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or G.E.D., with required certification within specified timelines.
• Preferred previous patient care experience; completion of FMCNA dialysis training and CPR certification required.

Additional Information
