Job summary

CommonSpirit Memorial is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver essential direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision. You will assist with personal care, mobility, feeding, and monitoring vital signs in a therapeutic environment.

The role requires strong observation, a proactive approach to learning, and teamwork with the nursing staff to prepare patients for procedures and transport. CPR certification within 30 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 30 days.
• Preferred healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care: assist with hygiene, physical care and vital signs.
• Record and report patient data: document vitals, intake/output and glucose readings.
• Communicate patient status: notify RN/LPN of changes promptly.
• Assist with patient transitions: support admission, transfer and discharge.
• Maintain patient environment: ensure safety and comfort, perform light housekeeping.
• Operate equipment: vital sign machines, glucose meters, scales and lifts.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of our clinical team. Leveraging your knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology, you will perform a range of daily duties.

Every day you will actively assist patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and maintaining a therapeutic and organized patient environment. You will also work closely with the nursing team to prepare patients for procedures or transport.

To be successful in this role requires a genuine passion for patient well-being, diligence in executing tasks, keen observational skills regarding patient conditions, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.

• Provide direct patient care: Assist with personal hygiene, physical care, and vital sign monitoring under RN/LPN supervision.

• Record and report patient data: Accurately document vital signs, intake/output, weight, and blood glucose readings.

• Communicate patient status: Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN/LPN.

• Assist with patient transitions: Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

• Maintain patient environment: Perform housekeeping tasks, ensure patient safety, and address comfort needs.

• Manage equipment and supplies: Operate vital sign machines, glucose meters, scales, lifts, and other equipment as needed.
