Job summary

CommonSpirit Memorial in Georgia seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of the clinical team. You will apply your knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology to support daily duties.

You will actively assist patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitor vital signs, document observations, and help prepare patients for procedures or transport.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification within 30 days.
  • Prior healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care: assist with personal hygiene, physical care, and vitals under RN/LPN supervision.
  • Record and report patient data: document vital signs, intake/output, weight, and glucose readings.
  • Communicate patient status: report changes to the RN/LPN promptly.
  • Assist with patient transitions: support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Maintain patient environment: keep areas clean, safe, and comfortable; manage supplies and equipment.

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of our clinical team. Leveraging your knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology, you will perform a range of daily duties.

Every day you will actively assist patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and maintaining a therapeutic and organized patient environment. You will also work closely with the nursing team to prepare patients for procedures or transport.

To be successful in this role requires a genuine passion for patient well-being, diligence in executing tasks, keen observational skills regarding patient conditions, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.

  • Provide direct patient care: Assist with personal hygiene, physical care, and vital sign monitoring under RN/LPN supervision.
  • Record and report patient data: Accurately document vital signs, intake/output, weight, and blood glucose readings.
  • Communicate patient status: Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN/LPN.
  • Assist with patient transitions: Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Maintain patient environment: Perform housekeeping tasks, ensure patient safety, and address comfort needs.
  • Manage equipment and supplies: Operate vital sign machines, glucose meters, scales, lifts, and other equipment as needed.
