Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs duties that support patient care, including direct and indirect activities essential for comprehensive care. Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the RN, assist in patient assessment, planning, and evaluation by obtaining and reporting information, including vital signs and deviations.
  • Perform technical duties and selected treatments to ensure safe and efficient patient care, including accurate patient identification following established policies.
  • Assist in patient care with consideration for safety, cultural, and individual diversity, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff; participate in bedside reports and shift communications.
  • Demonstrate accountability, relocate, and rotate to meet patient care needs.
  • Complete non-therapeutic functions under the supervision of MD, PA, APRN, or RN, including medication delivery from the pneumatic tube system.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED; CNA or equivalent (e.g., Medical Assistant, CPCT, EMT, student nurse, LPN).

Experience & Licensure: CT CNA certification, EMT, student nurse, or LPN. BCLS certification required before employment or within one month; must be maintained during employment.

Skills: Successful completion of orientation, proficient in English, positive patient and staff initiatives.

Physical Demands

Regularly sit, handle, reach, talk, hear, stand, and walk. Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment. Moderate noise level.
