MedStar Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team at Franklin Square Hospital. The ideal candidate will have basic math, communication, and computer skills.

Position Overview

As a Patient Care Technician, you will work as part of the patient-centered care team to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, tests, ADLs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, IV insertion, EKG, and documentation. Duties vary based on department needs.

Primary Duties

• Assist patients with ADLs and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, and transfers.
• Collect specimens, perform venipuncture, EKGs, apply telemetry devices, and manage IVs.
• Perform treatments such as tube feedings, ostomy care, wound care, turning, and postmortem care.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity. Support provider examinations, respond to patient questions, and report condition changes.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient areas, support environmental services, and assist in patient transports and errands.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 12 months CNA experience.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred.
• Experience in healthcare settings or student nurse status preferred.

This position offers a salary range of $19.17 - $33.08 per hour.
