Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician - Health Unit Coordinator at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. The role supports nursing staff with patient data collection, vital signs, specimen collection, and ADL assistance on 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends.

The position emphasizes accurate record-keeping, prompt response to call lights, and collaboration with care teams across departments.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Ability to relate professionally with patients, families and staff.
• Experience in patient care support roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records patient data, reporting information and observations to nursing team members in a timely fashion.
• Obtains and records patient vital signs, height, weight, nutritional intake and output and performs finger-stick glucose testing.
• Performs routine urinary catheter care.
• Collects and transports specimens (urine, stool, sputum) as requested.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and linen care; responds to call lights promptly.
• May be assigned as a sitter for patients needing constant observation.
• Maintains and updates unit records, orders and charts per policy.
• Greets visitors, handles phones, and coordinates with nursing staff.
• Maintains inventory and stocks supplies; attends in-services and meetings.
