A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Patient Care Technician for their Telemetry unit. This full-time role involves direct patient care, clinical support, and effective communication within the healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist patients with daily activities, perform vital signs monitoring, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Unit: Telemetry
Shift: Primarily 2p–10p (mix of 8 & 12 hr shifts)
Status: Full Time (typically 36 hours/week)
Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, repositioning, and transporting).
Support patients during procedures and therapies, including physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary treatments.
Provide instruction to patients and families as directed by the RN.
Apply, monitor, and remove patient restraints in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocol.
Clinical Support:
Perform core nursing assistant duties, including:
Blood glucose monitoring
Vital signs
Weight measurements
Intake and output tracking
Specimen collection
Foley catheter care
Telemetry monitor application/reapplication
Perform at least four of the following additional skills as required:
Phlebotomy/venipuncture
12-lead EKG
Simple dressings
Foley catheter removal
Point-of-care testing
Bladder scanning
Straight catheterization
Peripheral IV catheter removal
Communication & Teamwork:
Effectively communicate with all members of the healthcare team.
Establish respectful and professional relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
Respond to call lights and telephones, deliver meal trays, and assist with intra-hospital patient transport ("ticket to ride").
Professional Development:
Actively seek and respond to feedback and direction.
Identify personal learning needs and work with the unit director to address them.
Participate in self-reviews and ongoing training to enhance skills and performance.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all hospital policies and safety protocols, including standard precautions.
Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate department.
Support department-based projects, process improvements, and quality initiatives.
Maintain accountability for patient safety, cultural competency, and workplace professionalism.
Documentation:
Document patient care activities and observations accurately in the medical record.
Perform clerical duties as needed to support unit operations.
Ensure medication access is limited to transporting medication to a licensed nurse only.
