Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to provide direct patient care in the 2 North SNICU. Under RN supervision, you will assist with ADLs, specimen collection, IV management, and documentation for patients in a 20-bed Level 1 Trauma unit.

The role demands attention to patient safety, collaboration with the care team, and flexibility across shifts, including 7 am–7 pm. Full/part-time and PRN options are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT.
• Student nurses must have completed nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• Assist patients in ADLs including bathing, toileting, positioning, transferring and feeding.
• Collect and send specimens and manage peripheral IV catheter insertion/removal and documentation.
• Support the 20-bed SNICU in a Level 1 Trauma hospital.
• Care for patients with neuro and surgical conditions under RN supervision.

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose:

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 7 am-7 pm

Status Available: Full-time, Part-time, Contingent/PRN

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do:

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• The position supports the Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) Surgical and Neuroscience ICU (2 North) a 20-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma hospital.
• Patients admitted to the SNICU require intensive care monitoring including those patients with hemodynamic instability, compromised respiratory status and frequent neurological monitoring during the post-operative period of hospitalization. The population of patients includes cardiothoracic surgery, trauma, vascular and general surgeries. Additionally, the SNICU treats a wide range of serious neurological conditions, including both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The SNICU has expanded its neuroscience capabilities by acquiring a biplane and thrombectomy certification.
