Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a dedicated care assistant to provide routine patient care and support services under the direction of nurses and physicians. Responsibilities include ambulating patients, assisting with activities of daily living, and coordinating with departments to ensure timely care.

Highlights include rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays and potential eligibility for a $750 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, diet data entry, meal trays, feeding and other needs.
Greets visitors, answers inquiries, directs and assists, relays messages, assists with gifts, flowers and mail, runs errands.
Ambulates patients and assists in/out of wheelchairs; measures intake/output; collects specimens as needed.
Answer calls, operate paging, and direct traffic during emergencies.
Prepare requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services and coordinate appointments.
Coordinate outpatient appointments for discharge and transfer.
Requisition of supplies and equipment; maintenance and repairs and related forms.
Request services such as Chaplain, social services, pastoral care.
Perform clerical duties related to admissions, discharge, charts, forms, and transfers.
