Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to perform routine tasks and direct patient care in the evenings. The role includes rotating weekends and holidays, with a typical 8-hour shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, across two-week cycles totaling 80 hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) licensing required or in process.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, feeding and assisting with meals.
• Greet patients and assist with inquiries; relay messages and help with gifts, flowers and mail.
• Ambulate patients, assist with wheelchairs, monitor intake/output, and transport as needed.
• Answer calls, operate paging system, and assist during emergencies.
• Coordinate outpatient appointments and prepare charts; assist with admissions and discharges.
