Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) / CNA / MA for the 1 East Psych unit. Responsibilities include direct patient care under RN supervision, assisting with ADLs, specimen collection, and IV management.

Shifts available: early, afternoon, and overnight. Requires HS diploma or GED, and 1 year direct care experience or completion of relevant courses. Benefits start day one; hospital environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of direct care experience (acute or long-term) or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their BSN program nursing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with ADLs: bathing, hygiene, positioning, transferring, ambulation, feeding, and menu selection.
• Collect specimens (blood, blood cultures) and insert/remove peripheral IV catheters; document patient information per requirements.
• Unit 1 East is a 36-bed locked unit caring for patients 18 and older.
• Care criteria include potential for harm to self or others; manage critical situations accordingly.

Position Purpose:

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Status Available: Full-time, Part-time, Contingent/PRN

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do:

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• 1 East is a locked 36 bed, secured unit and services patients 18 through older adult.
• Services criteria includes the presence of life threatening and/or severely incapacitating symptoms and Potential of harm to self or others is considered serious.
• Patients are admitted Through Psychiatric Access department in the Emergency Department at THAA. In most cases face to-face assessments will be required and in other cases transfers or direct admissions from other locations may occur.
