Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join the 6 North PCU. Under RN supervision, the PCT provides direct patient care, assists with ADLs, and supports a clean, safe, and compassionate environment.

Shifts are 12-hour day shifts, 7am-7pm, with every other weekend and holiday required for full-time and part-time team members. Education: high school diploma or GED; one year direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT; nursing fundamentals for

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success.
• Assist patients in completing ADLs including bathing, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and feeding.
• Collect and send specimens, and manage peripheral IV catheters; document data as required.
• Provide care on 6N PCU for patients with complex medical co-morbidities requiring monitoring.
• 6N PCU rooms are private with cardiac monitoring capabilities.

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

7am-7pm

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What You Will Do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• The 6N PCU Unit provides care to patients with complex medical co morbidities that require vigilant monitoring, thoughtful assessment and timely clinical interventions to achieve their treatment goals.
• Pulmonary disease and sepsis are commonly seen along with complications from diabetes, cardiac disease, and diabetes. 6N PCU is a 12 bed unit. All rooms are private and offer cardiac monitoring capability.
