Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) / CNA / MA to provide direct patient care under RN supervision at the 11 East Oncology department. You will assist with ADLs, collect specimens, and document patient data.

Shifts include early morning, afternoon, and night options. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 1 year of direct care experience or completion of related programs. Competitive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, toileting, positioning and feeding.
  • Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and manage IV sites.
  • Record patient information accurately to meet documentation requirements.
  • Support adults with hematologic and oncologic illnesses, including solid tumors and palliative care.
  • Collaborate in a care environment offering chemotherapy and related therapies.

Department: 11 East Oncology

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose: The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am Status Available: Full-time, Part-time Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

High school diploma or GED Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course. Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do:

Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements. Patients served include adults with hematologic and oncologic illness, including solid tumors, malignancies, and terminal illness. We offer a variety of therapeutic interventions, from chemotherapy to palliative care services.
