Miami Valley Hospital in the Neuroscience Unit is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses and doctors in patient care during the 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift, 36 hours per week. Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, helping patients with mobility, hygiene, and meals, collecting samples, and reporting changes to the supervising nurse.

The role may involve unit clerk duties to assist with paperwork and hospital operations, with emphasis on teamwork and patient well-being.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BLS CPR certification required or provided at orientation.
  • Experience with vital signs and direct patient care.
  • Student in nursing with clinical rotation counts.
  • Hospital experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Check vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, BP) and monitor patient condition.
  • Assist patients with mobility, dressing, hygiene and feeding.
  • Weigh patients and assist with basic daily care.
  • Collect samples as needed (e.g., urine) and document changes to nurses.
  • Assist with paperwork and unit clerk tasks to support hospital operations.

Bathing, turning/positioning, toiletingCurrently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements. *Other Skills:You can handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.You know how to use a computer.You're good at organizing things.You can talk and listen well to others.Bonus points: You've worked in a hospital before.
