Texas Health Resources in Plano, TX is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Intensive Care Unit. This full-time role supports nursing, collects patient data, and helps with admissions, transfers and daily living activities.

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and related training or certification. EMT or nursing student status with fundamentals may be considered; BCLS is required before independent patient care.

Qualifications

• PCT Training Program or approved equivalent certification.
• EMT or nursing student status with fundamentals completed may apply.
• BCLS certification prior to practicing with patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as per plan of care.

• Document accurately and collaborate with the nurse.

Work hours

Full-time Days (6:45am - 7:15pm) - Three variable 12-hour day shifts per week for 36 hours per week with Every other weekend and holiday requirements

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Prior experience preferred
• PCT Training Program, TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire.
• Upon Hire Required Or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B)
• Upon Hire Required Or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
• Upon Hire Required Or 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
• Upon Hire Required And BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

What You Will Do CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and Revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enter orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
