Job summary

Lovelace Health System in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a night-shift, part-time Emergency Room Patient Care Technician (PCT). The role supports nursing staff by assisting patients with daily activities and monitoring vitals in a busy ER.

You will obtain specimens, transport patients, record inputs/outputs, and help with basic care tasks while adhering to safety and quality standards. Candidates should have a High School diploma and BLS certification; phlebotomy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; BLS within 14 days of hire.
• Phlebotomy experience or course preferred.
• 2 years' experience in acute or long-term care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Pursuing CNA/PCT or EMT-P certification.
• Currently enrolled in nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily activities and ADLs under supervision.
• Observes patient progress and reports to RNs or medical staff.
• Records vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures intake/output and assists with ROM; supports care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Additionally, this position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• 2 years’ experience in acute or long-term care
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Working towards approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification
• Currently enrolled in nursing school.
