Job summary

Miami Valley Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist the RN/LPN and enhance patient care. You will perform assigned tasks and support direct care within the nursing process, under supervision.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a BLS CPR certificate; prior CNA/STNA training or PCT training is preferred, with clinical nursing rotations beneficial. Orientation covers CPR if needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS CPR certificate required; orientation can provide CPR if not already obtained.
• Completion of STNA/CNA training or Patient Care Technician training.
• Direct patient care experience within the last five years: vital signs & patient care tasks (bathing, turning/positioning, toileting).
• Currently enrolled in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed.
• Special consideration: prior direct patient care experience may waive some fundamental training after skills validation.
• Other skills: multitasking, computer use, good organization, clear communication.

The Patient Care Technician assists the RN/LPN by performing assigned tasks for which he/she is trained, facilitating direct care and the nursing process.QualificationsEducation: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.Training: You'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).Experience: Successful completion of one of the following:Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toiletingCurrently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation.
