Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a part-time Patient Care Tech for the Surgical & Perrine Oncology IP Center (0.2 FTE) with evening and night shifts. You will support licensed nurses, document care, monitor patient status, and communicate with families and the care team.

The role requires a High School diploma (CNA/Health Support cert preferred), BLS certification, and mandatory reporter training. Previous PCT/CNA experience preferred; heavy lifting may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• CNA or Health Support Professional program preferred.
• 2 years in a baccalaureate program or 1 year in an ADN program or equivalent experience acceptable.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required (HBSA/AHA).
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter training for Dependent Adult and Child Abuse.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information at handoffs to patients, families, and coworkers.
• Provide safe patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nurse.
• Document patient care in real time with accuracy.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice.
• Organize and prioritize daily workload with input from team.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and work areas.
• Support quality improvement efforts and practice changes as directed.
