Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine seeks a Patient Care Technician Intern (PCT Intern) to work under a registered nurse, delivering compassionate hands-on patient care, documenting information, and using equipment to support safe care. The role includes 1:1 observation, camera monitoring, and unit-based PCT duties when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active CNA certification issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing is required.
• Current BLS CPR certification (AHA/Red Cross/Military Training Network) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 patient observation.
• Offer camera monitoring for patients.
• Serve as a PCT on the unit as needed under RN supervision.

Job description

The Patient Care Technician Intern (PCT Intern) works under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide compassionate, hands-on patient care. This role includes performing routine patient care activities and delegated clinical procedures, documenting and communicating patient information, and using specialized equipment to support a safe, high-quality care environment. The PCT Intern develops foundational clinical skills while gaining valuable experience caring for patients in a collaborative healthcare setting. This role is part of the float pool, where you will function in three key capacities:

• Provide direct 1:1 patient observation
• Offer camera monitoring for patients
• Serve as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the unit as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification on Maryland Board of Nursing
• Current BLS CPR certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network
