The Medical University of South Carolina Health (MUSC Health) seeks a Patient Care Technician in Columbia, SC. Under RN supervision, you will support a decentralized, patient-centered approach by measuring vital signs and assisting with patient comfort and daily activities.

You will report concerns to care team members and help move or reposition patients as needed, while demonstrating patience, empathy, and strong communication. A HS diploma and BLS are required; CNA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required on hire and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsabilités

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patients with everyday needs (personal hygiene, using the restroom, grooming, etc.).
• Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, etc.) or EKG signals and patient condition.
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies, linen is clean.
• Assist patients with particular issues or needs.
• Provide appropriate emotional support.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor.
• Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags.
• Perform blood sugar checks.
• Assist with other duties assigned by the department leader.
