Position Overview

This position involves performing nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities, including addressing personal, physical, and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. The role aims to deliver high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Current WV Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or completion of a hospital-based certification program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior patient care experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature of work for this position. They are not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned:

1. Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
2. Assist the Registered Nurse with patient admission, transfer, discharge, and general care duties.
3. Record vital signs, assist with personal hygiene, and monitor oral intake and outputs.
4. Assist in specimen collection and other patient activities.
5. Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
6. Report equipment repairs promptly.
7. Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
8. Communicate nutrition issues to the RN.
9. Support departmental administrative tasks.
10. Respond to patient call bells and relay messages appropriately.

Additional Requirements

Completion of annual education related to specialty accreditation, if applicable.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Work requires strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods.
• Work involves exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and working near deceased individuals.
• Work may involve working with water and electrical hazards.
