UHC-Patient Care Tech-Non Certified Float Pool

Join us as a UHC-Patient Care Tech-Non Certified Float Pool at United Hospital Center.

This role involves performing nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities, including supporting patients' personal, physical, and comfort needs under the supervision of a registered nurse. The goal is to provide high-quality patient care in collaboration with licensed medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior patient care experience is preferred.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, discharge, and general care duties.
  • Record vital signs, assist with hygiene, and monitor oral intake and outputs.
  • Assist in specimen collection and other activities related to patient care.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Communicate nutrition issues or diet changes to RNs.
  • Support administrative tasks within the department.
  • Answer patient call bells and relay messages appropriately.
Additional Requirements

Completion of annual education related to specialty accreditation if applicable, through various training methods.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Includes physical stamina for lifting, moving, standing, and working around biohazards, infectious diseases, and other hazards.

Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
Work Schedule

36 hours per week, Night shift, Non-Exempt status.

Work Environment
  • Working closely with others, irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, working near the deceased, water, and electrical hazards.
