Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support licensed nurses and provide safe, compassionate patient care, performing delegated tasks and assisting with daily activities. You will maintain accurate documentation and adhere to safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure with diverse populations, and the stamina for 8- or 12-hour shifts including day, evening, or night options. On-site work required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Completion of CNA or Health Support Professional program.
• Minimum 2 years in a baccalaureate program.
• One year in an Associate’s Degree in Nursing program.
• Comparable education, training and experience if CNA/Health Support not completed.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information to patients, families, and staff at handoffs.
• Ensure necessary information is conveyed for optimal outcomes.
• Provide safe patient care under supervision of licensed nurse.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nurse.
• Communicate with sensitivity to language and cultural barriers.
• Maintain real-time documentation of patient care.
• Protect patient privacy and safety of information.
• Organize and prioritize daily workflow.
• Keep patient rooms and areas clean and organized.
