Job Description

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care tailored to the patient's age, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The PCT assists in creating a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and families, utilizing unit-specific competencies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Recording intake/output, weights, vital signs, and pain scores
• Assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, and mobility
• Applying support devices and administering basic therapies like oxygen
• Performing sterile procedures and specimen collection
• Documenting patient information accurately
• Maintaining a safe and clean environment, including bed making and equipment cleaning
• Providing wound care and dressing changes as delegated
• Supporting unit-specific activities like telemetry and emergency equipment checks
• Performing clerical duties such as answering phones and chart preparation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Preferred minimum of one year of direct care experience or completion of relevant courses (CENA, PCT, MA, EMT), or nursing student in fundamentals
