Job summary

Endeavor Health’s Elmhurst Hospital is seeking a Part Time Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff on the day shift. The role involves providing patient care, ensuring comfort and safety, and collaborating with the RN to meet care plans.

Flexible hours include weekends and rotating holidays as needed. The ideal candidate will have current CPR certification, EMT-B preferred, and relevant patient care experience or nursing clinical rotation.

Qualifications

• CPR certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• EMT-B certification preferred.
• 6 months of patient care experience or equivalent, or nursing clinical rotation.
• Care Companion Course completion within 6 months if required by department.
• Strong teamwork, prioritization and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and per established procedures.
• Perform patient care tasks to support comfort and safety of patients.
• Assist with activities of daily living as directed and document observations per policy.

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.71 - $28.58 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

• Position: Patient Care Technician
• Location: Elmhurst Hospital
• Part Time: 24 hours per week
• Hours: Day Shift (7am-7:00pm) Rotating Holidays/Weekends Required

What you will do:
The Patient Care Tech, under the directions of a Registered Nurse (RN) and, according to established procedures, performs patient care tasks and patient care procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients.

What you will need:

• Education: N/A
• Certification: Current CPR Certification issues by either American Heart Associates or American Red Cross
• Preferred Certification : EMT-B Certification
• Experience: Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training course or minimum six months of previous patient care experience or equivalent or completion of one nursing clinical rotation or successful completion of EMT-B course
• Successful completion of care Companion Course within six months of hire when course is required by the department.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.
