Job summary

Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA seeks a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to deliver direct patient care under RN guidance in line with regulations and policies. You’ll assist with mobility, vital signs, hygiene, and documentation, while coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure safe, patient‑centered care.

Applicants should have BLS certification and completing or having completed a nursing aide program or equivalent; Epic EHR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Recent acute care or similar setting experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; additional certifications may be needed at certain locations.
• Eligibility and completion of nursing aide program or nursing degree with clinical experience required.
• One clinical nursing course and clinical rotation or related healthcare exposure may satisfy requirements.
• RSF PCT Training Program to be completed on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including hygiene, vital signs and mobility assistance.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Delivers high‑quality customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off reporting of pertinent information.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Assists with patient transfer and mobility using safe techniques.
• Encourages patient independence and participation in tasks.
• Tailors care to patient needs and preferences.
