Hospital for Special Care is seeking a Patient Support Associate for the Second Shift in the Respiratory Care Unit. The role focuses on patient supervision, safe non-skilled interventions, transport preparation and equipment setup to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to work independently.
• Requires ability to read, write and understand directions in English.
• Requires ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Preferred: one year of work experience with special needs population.
• Preferred: basic computer knowledge.
• Preferred: CPI or Safety Care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in lifting, transporting, turning and guarding patients with proper body mechanics.
• Provide observation and direct assistance to patients under nurse direction.
• Demonstrate competency with patient-related equipment as directed.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the care team.
• Set up and assist with mealtimes and nourishment.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and orderly storage of equipment and supplies.
• Document tasks accurately and promptly in the applicable format.
• Order patient equipment and supplies as directed.
• Float to other units as needed based on competency and patient care needs.
