Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Milton, Delaware, invites qualified Registered Nurses to join our Route 9 Primary Care, DI and Emergency teams. This full-time role covers day shifts with a 72-hour schedule, offering professional nursing care and patient-centered planning in a busy acute care setting.

We expect an Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma and an RN license, BLS and NRP within 6 months; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential: RN license; BLS; NRP within 6 months; ACLS/PALS may be required.
• Experience: Critical care experience; 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individual needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Delegate to unlicensed assistive staff and LPNs as needed.
• Demonstrate core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY

General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing Or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; NRP within 6 months of hire, if not already obtained; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
• Experience: Required:

Experience in critical care.

Preferred: 2 years' critical care experience

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor Degree Nursing
• Credential(s): Certification related to the position, if applicable. Trauma Nursing Core Course Certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
