Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Delaware seeks a registered nurse for the Diagnostic Imaging Services unit at the Sussex Campus Hospital. The role is part-time (40 hours biweekly) with Day/Evening shifts, providing professional nursing care under the Site Manager’s direction.

The ideal candidate has Med/Surg experience, ACLS/BLS credentials, and demonstrates compassionate, high-quality patient care. Bayhealth offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of Med/Surg nursing experience is required.
• Critical Care nursing experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Administering medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Read and interpret patient information, and assist with treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and LPNs.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement plans.

Location: Sussex Campus Hospital

Status: Part Time 40 Hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Site Manager, provides professional nursing care within Diagnostic Imaging Services. Professional nurse practices requiring specialized knowledge, judgment and skills are performed consistent with hospital policy, procedure, philosophy and licensure. Provides care for age specific population as listed below.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.


• 2. Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.


• 3. Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.


• 4. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.


• 5. Administering medication following the five rights of medication administration.


• 6. Administration and monitoring patients when using Moderate Sedation and Analgesia.


• 7. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.


• 8. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.


• 9. Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate


• 10. Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


• 11. Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.


• 12. Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.


• 13. Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff


• 14. Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.


• 15. Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)


• 16. Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)


• 17. Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.


• 18. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
  


• Credential(s): Registered Nurse RN
  Basic Life Support BLS
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS


• Experience: Two years of Med/Surg is required, however Critical Care Nursing experience is strongly preferred given many of the procedures require ICU-level of care. Experience must include use of pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring equipment, drug administration and monitoring.

• Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing BSN


• Credential(s): Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS


• Experience: Several years experience in Critical Care Nursing
