Job summary

Guthrie is seeking a Part Time Patient Care Partner – Nursing Unit in Troy, PA to support nursing staff with compassionate daily care and daily living activities. The role requires CNA training or enrollment in a nursing program, with at least one year of healthcare experience preferred. Night shifts are 7 p.m.

to 7 a.m., with every other weekend on rotation. Guthrie offers benefits and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and daily living activities.

Role Summary

The Patient Care Partner works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to deliver direct and supportive patient care. This role assists with activities of daily living, patient mobility, specimen collection, vital sign monitoring, and other clinical and non-clinical duties that contribute to outstanding patient outcomes and experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
  • Assist patients with bathing, grooming, oral care, shaving, toileting, dressing, and other activities of daily living
  • Assist with feeding and hydration needs
  • Perform patient transfers, ambulation, positioning, and mobility activities utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment when appropriate
  • Assist with range of motion and exercise protocols
  • Provide one-to-one patient observation for safety, behavioral health, or suicide precautions as assigned
  • Perform postmortem care
Clinical Support
  • Obtain and accurately document:
    • Temperature
    • Pulse
    • Respirations
    • Blood pressure
    • Height and weight
    • Intake and output
    • Bowel movements
    • Activities of daily living
    • Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens
    • Complete EKGs
    • Discontinue Foley catheters as directed
    • Remove peripheral IV catheters
    • Administer cleansing enemas
    • Assist with surgical preparations and incentive spirometry supervision
    • Perform simple dressing changes
Patient Safety & Service
  • Participate in patient rounding
  • Answer call bells promptly
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate action
  • Report any suspected signs of abuse
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
  • Assist with inventory and management of patient belongings
Operational Support
  • Transport patients, equipment, and blood products as needed
  • Serve, distribute, and remove meal trays
  • Distribute water pitchers and nourishment
  • Maintain proper storage and readiness of equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and initiate corrective action when necessary
Communication & Teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Answer telephones professionally and accurately relay messages
  • Support departmental goals and performance improvement initiatives
  • Assist with orientation of new employees
  • Participate in unit-based council activities
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
  • Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program; OR
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Nurse Aide or in a comparable healthcare role; OR
  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with successful completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course
