Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives through effective communication and teamwork.

Job Duties

1. Provides care to designated patients using a patient/family-centered approach in accordance with policies and procedures.
2. Communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN effectively.
3. Uses appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, visitors, staff, and colleagues.
4. Supports patient experience goals and hospital objectives as a team member.
5. Participates in the orientation of new staff as assigned.
6. Performs validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and practice.
7. Utilizes technology to optimize care delivery.
8. Completes quality control checks on equipment, if applicable.
9. Conducts patient rounds, anticipates needs, and responds promptly to call lights or pages.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Six months recent experience in direct patient care activities, or successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
• Ability to follow directions and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care tasks.
• Basic computer skills.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 180 days.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs., including activities like pushing/pulling beds and stretchers. Frequent standing and walking. Activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
