Summary

Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives as a team member.

Job Duties

• Provides care to and related activities for designated patients using a patient/family-centered approach in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Employs observational skills and communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN.
• Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, families, visitors, staff, and colleagues.
• Supports unit-based patient experience goals and hospital objectives.
• Participates in orientation of new staff, as assigned.
• Performs validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
• Utilizes technology to optimize care delivery.
• Completes quality control checks on designated equipment, if applicable.
• Conducts patient rounds, anticipates needs, and responds promptly to call lights or pages.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Six months recent experience in patient care activities or successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
• Ability to follow directions and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care tasks.
• Basic computer skills.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 180 days of hire.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Examples include pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs., and frequent standing/walking. Specific activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR, as role requires.
