Akron General's 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Unit. This fast-paced team cares for patients requiring extensive ADL assistance and complex medical attention. As a Senior Technician, you will play an integral role in ensuring patients receive the best treatment possible. Shift: Nights, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare units, patient rooms, and beds for admissions, surgical returns, transfers, or emergencies.
2. Provide and document care such as bathing, linen changes, dressing, feeding, etc.
3. Take and record vital signs and other patient measurements.
4. Perform treatment procedures including blood draws, enemas, ice/heat packs, skin preps, oxygen setup, and Buck's traction.
5. Assist with pre- and post-operative patient care, including turning, positioning, and ambulation.
6. Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
7. Conduct hourly safety rounds, anticipate needs, and respond promptly to call lights.
8. Document patient care in electronic medical records.
9. Complete required competency and education programs to maintain licensure and certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
• One year of recent acute care experience

Physical Requirements:

• Full body motion for patient handling, extensive standing and walking.
• Medium exertion, lifting 20-50 pounds occasionally and 10-25 pounds frequently.
• Physical demands exceed Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Use of PPE as required following standard precautions.
