Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) to provide direct patient care and clerical support underRN supervision. The PCNA will perform ADLs, monitor vital signs, and assist with data collection while maintaining accurate patient records.

The role requires basic nursing skills, strong communication in a diverse environment, and the ability to organize changing assignments. BLS certification required within 90 days, and PHI handling must be followed rigorously.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and peers is essential.
• Able to organize changing work assignments and maintain PHI securely.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care tasks as delegated by the RN.
• Assists with the implementation of the plan of care.
• Provides compassionate interactions with patients and families.
• Follows evidence-based prevention guidelines to promote outcomes.
• Maintains patient records in written and/or electronic format.
• Onboards and trains new PCNAs.
• Assists with unit communication and stocking supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and PHI rules.
