Job summary

Qualifications

• Eligibility for Secret security clearance or access for duration of employment.
• Pre-employment Physical Examination and annual examination required.
• On-call during irregular hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, varying schedules.
• Immunization screening required; Hepatitis B vaccination required for direct patient contact.
• Seasonal influenza vaccination mandatory unless exempted for medical or religious reasons.
• Tuberculosis testing required.
• Urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
• Pre-employment screening and random drug testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake procedures.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Provide pretreatment, treatment and post-treatment evaluation of patients.
• Assist physicians in exam rooms.
• Perform routine procedures within the scope of practice to include sterile dressing application, enemas, suture/staple application and removal.
• Update patient medical records.
• Ensure proper computer entry of patient and data and equipment settings.
• Provide technical guidance for medical support assistants and Red Cross volunteers.
• Ensure the sterile condition and adequacy of supplies in patient care areas and storage rooms.
• Dispose of outdated and expired medications/vaccines and replenish.
