Purpose:
The Patient Care Liaison is a patient-facing role responsible for proactive outreach and support, as well as accurate and timely responses to patient inquiries regarding referral status or escalations. The Liaison serves as the primary contact for patient communication regarding shipment setup, case status updates, and prescription processing. The role involves direct interaction with patients and collaboration with internal teams including Pharmacy Operations, Care Coordinators, and Case Managers to support the patient journey.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for patient support, shipment setup, inquiries, and escalations.
- Complete assigned tasks following Standard Operating Procedures and service levels to enroll patients, answer inquiries, and facilitate access to therapies.
- Process patient and prescriber requests to ensure timely access to therapy.
- Support resolution of general inquiries from patients and prescribers.
- Perform data entry and manage enrollment forms and prescriptions from healthcare provider offices.
- Use problem-solving skills to research cases and make sound decisions.
- Maintain communication with internal staff to resolve patient and healthcare provider inquiries.
- Assist the Care Coordinator team as directed, including training support.
- Provide exceptional customer service, resolve requests promptly, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Support efficient referral processing from intake to prescription triage.
- Resolve complex issues independently with creativity and innovation.
- Maintain a strong compliance mindset, understanding patient privacy laws.
- Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships internally and externally, fostering positivity.
- Understand payer trends, product access, and reimbursement reporting delays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or high school diploma with 2+ years relevant experience.
- Experience in pharmacy, healthcare, or insurance, with a customer service focus.
- Comfortable working in a telephonic role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician or Case Management experience.
- 2+ years in healthcare management.
- Knowledge of Third-Party and Foundation programs.
- Understanding of Co-Pay Assistance programs.
- Ability to build productive relationships.
- Experience with benefit investigation and verification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of biologic/specialty pharma market and patient access challenges.
- Ability to manage caseload, prioritize, and use time effectively.
- Empathy, drive, and commitment to service excellence.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and flexibility to work schedule as needed.
Work Environment:
This role operates in a professional office setting and remotely from home. Employees must have reliable internet and a dedicated workspace separate from their home environment. Equipment and setup are the employee's responsibility. The work schedule and location may vary based on organizational needs.
