Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Director - ICU (RN) for a full-time day shift. This leadership role oversees delivery of patient care on the ICU, coordinating admissions, discharges and transfers while promoting safety and quality.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN and a MSN (or in progress with completion within one year), an active NYS RN license, and 3+ years of acute ICU experience with demonstrated leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Nursing in related field (If currently pursuing a Master's Degree, must be completed within 1 year of hire).
• Current New York State RN license.
• At least 3 years of acute care RN experience in the ICU.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage delivery of patient care on the ICU unit.
• Facilitate efficient, cost-effective daily operations including admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Promote a culture of safety and quality by implementing standards and policies.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to align unit goals with hospital strategy.
• Monitor staff compliance with regulatory, hospital, and divisional requirements.

The Patient Care Director assumes first line leadership responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care on an assigned unit. Facilitates efficient and cost effective daily operations of the unit(s) in relation to patient throughput including admissions, discharges and transfers. Promotes a culture of safety and quality by ensuring continuity and consistency in the implementation of established standards, protocols, policies and procedures. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, participates in the establishment of unit(s) short and long term goals and ensures its alignment with the hospital's overall strategic goals. • American Nurses Credentialing Center approved national board Certification
