Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the UnitedHealth Group family, is seeking a Practice Support Assistant to support Family Medicine with patient scheduling, records handling, and front-desk coordination. You will work with clinicians and staff to maintain efficient patient flow and high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, accuracy, and team collaboration, with a schedule Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm EST and a location at 90 Libbey Industrial Pkwy, Weymouth,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1+ years of customer service or medical office/healthcare experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems (Epic or equivalent) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer phones and direct calls to staff.
  • Respond to patient questions and provide general information.
  • Process referrals, authorizations, and medical records requests.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, and other departments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient information in the EMR (Epic).
  • Assist with prescription refill requests according to office workflow.
  • Prepare forms, letters, and other patient/provider documentation.

Positions in this function perform advancedPractice Support Assistantduties with a high level of autonomy and competency. Serves as a key member of the medical team, delivering excellent customer service and supporting strong patient‑clinician relationships. In addition to core responsibilities, handles administrative tasks, which vary by department.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST. Schedule to be determined upon hire.
Location: 90 Libbey Industrial Pkwy. Weymouth, MA.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments
  • Answering phones and directing calls to the appropriate staff
  • Responding to patient questions and providing general information
  • Processing referrals, authorizations, and medical records requests
  • Coordinating communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, and other departments
  • Sending and receiving medical records and documentation
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient information in the electronic medical record (Epic)
  • Assisting with prescription refill requests according to office workflow
  • Preparing forms, letters, and other patient/provider documentation
  • Supporting office workflows and maintaining efficient patient flow
  • Following HIPAA, privacy, and organizational policies
  • Assisting providers and clinical staff with administrative needs
  • Participating in team meetings, training, and process‑improvement initiatives
  • Providing excellent customer service and helping create a positive patient experience

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service or medical office/healthcare experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Office Administration Program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with scheduling software and electronic medical records systems (Epic or equivalent)
  • Proven solid problem solving and complex patient management skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
