Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform a range of front-line clinical and administrative duties in a busy care setting. You will prepare patients, assist during examinations, collect specimens when needed, and coordinate referrals with insurers and other offices.

You’ll also manage appointment scheduling, reminders, and patient check-ins with a focus on accuracy and courtesy. The role requires on-the-job training or prior ED Technician experience, CPR/BLS certification within 90

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant training on the job for 5 years or clinic-based ED Technician experience.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days; injection training and pharmacology competencies to perform medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.
• Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures.
• Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects.
• Answers telephone and directs callers or initiates triage for medical staff.
• Schedules appointments and enters dates/times into computerized scheduler.
• Conducts reminder calls to patients.
• Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.
• Registers patients and ensures records are up to date.
• Manages chart updates in the computer system.
• Coordinates referrals through insurance and other physician offices.
