Job summary

VCA Veterinary Specialists of CT is seeking an experienced Patient Care Attendant Supervisor to lead and support the PCA team. This role calls for a leader who is equal parts clinical expert and people-first manager — someone who leads with empathy, communicates clearly, and knows how to bring out the best in a team.

The schedule is Full time with weekend rotation required. Compensation ranges from $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, based on skill set, licensure and experience.

Qualifications

• Direct, hands-on leadership of the PCA team including hiring, onboarding, scheduling and performance management.
• Build schedules and coverage plans to support high-quality patient care.
• Lead regular one-on-ones focused on communication, trust and team cohesion.

• Partner with medical director and veterinary team to maintain high-quality care.
• Serve as clinical coach and mentor for PCAs and student externs.

• Monitor retention, satisfaction, and workload balance; recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable veterinary practice acts, OSHA, and safety regulations.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Serve as a clinical coach and mentor for PCAs, and student externs

• Foster open, honest communication and a collaborative team environment
• Actively work to strengthen morale, trust, and engagement across the nursing team
• Serve as a steady, approachable point of contact for staff concerns and team dynamics

Operations & Compliance

• Monitor team retention, satisfaction, and workload balance, recommending improvements as needed
• Ensure compliance with all applicable veterinary practice acts, OSHA, and safety regulations
