Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join General Surgery 3W. This role supports individualized patient care, records vital signs, and assists with daily activities in a fast-paced surgical unit.

Responsibilities expand for PCT with phlebotomy, enteral feedings, wound care, IV/ catheter removal, and tracheostomy care. Training includes Mercy's accredited PCA program and a 90‑day completion path.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC certification, or enrollment in a healthcare career program.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Certifications: BLS within one month of hire; PCA competencies within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and enter data into the EMR.
• Assist patients with daily needs (meals, bathing, mobility).
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• For PCT: perform phlebotomy, administer enteral feedings, wound care, remove IVs and catheters, and care for tracheostomy.
