Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN. Work as part of a 30-bed Med/Surg unit with a focus on teamwork, accountability, and belonging.

The role includes vital signs, daily activities, and records documentation, with opportunities to advance to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond through the accredited apprenticeship program. Training included, with BLS within 1 month of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program preferred.
• No prior experience necessary.
• Physical requirements: Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs; prolonged standing and walking; bend/kneel/squat.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document in EMR.
• Assist with meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, mobility, and transport.
• Provide clerical support as needed.
