Memorial Hospital West in Hollywood, FL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff and provide basic patient care under an RN's supervision.

Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with daily living activities, transporting patients, and helping maintain clean, stocked rooms. Six-month competency development in EKG and phlebotomy is required.

Qualifications

• No degree or formal education is required for this role.
• Current BLS credentials from a recognized provider are required.
• Within six months, EKG and phlebotomy competencies must be demonstrated.

Summary:

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with transporting patients, as needed
• Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff
• Additional duties as assigned
• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output
• Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating
