Job summary

Memorial Hospital West is seeking a patient care assistant to support nursing staff under an RN's supervision in Hollywood, FL. You will help with daily patient care, monitor vitals, perform EKG testing and phlebotomy, and assist with personal care and mobility as needed.

The role requires a recent BLS certification, strong communication and teamwork, and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-stress environment.

Qualifications

• No Degree required; BLS required. The role supports licensed staff under RN supervision.
• Three months of patient care experience or completion of a formal training program is required.
• EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Summary

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities

• Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly.
• Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Assist with transporting patients, as needed.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
