Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Night shift patient care support member to participate in direct and indirect patient care, including performing EKGs and phlebotomy, under supervision of the professional staff.

The role involves materials management and adherence to approved policies, with responsibilities across neonatal to geriatric care in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active certification from AAMA/NCCT/AMT/NHA/AMCA/NAHP/NCMA or equivalent
• Current nursing student with BLS from American Heart Association within 90 days
• No prior experience required

Responsibilities

• Assist professional staff in direct and indirect patient care, including performing EKGs and phlebotomy.
• Handle materials management and maintenance as directed.
• Communicate effectively with patients across age groups and healthcare team.

Job description

Position Summary

To assist the professional staff by participating in direct and indirect patient care to include performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and materials management and maintenance as directed by the professional staff and in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must meet one of the following requirements:(1) Recent experience in a comparable role in a hospital setting or(2) have a valid current and active certification from a credentialing organization approved by Valley, including American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency testing (NCCT) or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Healthcare Association (NHA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Certification Medical Association (NCMA) in one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, NJ State Certified Home Health Aide or EMT; or(3) Current and enrolled nursing student who has completed and passed "Fundamentals of Nursing" course and obtain your BLS certification through "American Heart Association" within 90 Days of employment.

Qualifications may vary depending on assigned area. Must be able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods, handle frequent interruptions, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team, staff, and co-workers. Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the patient care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
