Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale NewHaven Health, seeks a patient care associate to support nursing staff under RN supervision. You will assist with vital signs, medication delivery, and direct patient care, while maintaining high standards of safety and communication.

Required is a high school diploma or GED and CNA/EMT (or related) clinical experience, with BLS certification within 1 month of hire. Orientation completion and English proficiency are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA credential, EMT, or other clinical experience in healthcare setting, or completion of nursing program-related coursework.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, engages in selected tasks to assist nurse in assessment and planning of patient needs.
• Obtains and records vital signs as ordered or delegated by the RN.
• Performs technical duties and treatments contributing to safe delivery of patient care.
• Ensures patient identification following policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs and fosters cultural sensitivity.
• Communicates with patients, families, and staff; covers BA desk in RN's absence.
• Relocates and rotates to meet patient care needs.
• Delivers medications from pneumatic tube to appropriate licensed personnel.
