Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Associate to join our Float Pool on the Day shift. This full-time role, 36 hours per week, involves direct patient care under the RN, data collection, and basic care tasks aimed at progress toward discharge.

The PCA will perform patient data collection, routine personal care, glucose testing, mobility assistance, and patient safety support. Eligibility includes a high school diploma and healthcare exposure; we emphasize compassionate teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent - required
• Less than 1 year experience in a health care setting or completion of certified nurse assistant course - preferred
• Experience as a paramedic, emergency technician - preferred
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology (Medium proficiency)
• Honest, punctual, and performs the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by Albany Medical Center
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with patients, family members, employees and others.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient data including vital signs, height/weight, intake/output.
• Reports abnormal findings to the RN and care team.
• Participates in care planning and nursing report process.
• Incorporates patient/family rights in care decisions.
• Keeps patients and families informed using standardized communication.
• Provides personal patient care including bathing, grooming, and assistance with eating and hydration.
