Job summary

WVU Medicine in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist in ADLs, monitor vital signs, and support basic rehab activities while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include transporting patients, assisting with examinations, and performing routine phlebotomy per policy. Excellent communication and timely tasks are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living according to need in a timely manner including making all assigned beds.
• Safely transports patients and escorts for tests, procedures, and discharge.
• Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Performs routine phlebotomy services, excluding line draws, as directed by management.
• Obtains and records vital signs and basic health data as per policy.
• Provides respiratory support by setting up equipment for oxygen administration.
• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to RN immediately.
• Prepares patients for examinations and assists with procedures.
• Assists with rehab/Physical Therapy activities and ambulation.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN; supports diet changes.
• Maintains clean, safe environment and unit equipment.
• Helps with routine unit operations to ensure smooth functioning.
