Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a nursing assistant to perform direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse, assist with activities of daily living, and support high quality, family-centered care.

The role includes transporting patients and specimens, performing routine tests where permitted, taking vital signs, and assisting with examinations. Requires high school diploma and BLS/HeartSaver within 30 days; 20-hour weekly shift; non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care and activities of daily living as directed by the RN.
• Transport patients and specimens safely according to policy.
• Perform routine phlebotomy and basic tests as assigned.
• Take and record vitals, apply oxygen and respiratory support as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and communicate patient needs to the RN.
